This picture of my tomatoes amidst the marigolds was taken mid September, so towards the end of the season. (Yes - there are tomato plants in there) I got a bag of these to fill in some areas around my house and to plant with the tomatoes. They did a great job keeping the bugs away. They are very hearty and the yield was much higher than I anticipated. In fact, based on my luck with the seeds from the hardware store, I over planted, expecting a lot of duds. Nope. I also discovered the tomatoes thrived in the partial shade of the marigolds. It protected them from the brutal heat, sun and dry weather of the hot Summer, and we got larger, more slowly ripening (more flavorful) tomates. Even though I planted them all around the property, I have seeds left over. But for the price of those little packages of seeds in the stores, and now many of those I would have to buy, I got a much better seed and saved money, too!
